New idea for creating your own little spa-licious Saturday! 

Spectacular Bath Cookies

You'll need:

2 cups finely ground sea salt
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 tablespoons light oil
1 teaspoon vitamin E oil
2 eggs
5 to 6 drops essential oil of your choice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Combine all ingredients and form into a dough. Taking a teaspoon of dough at a time, roll it gently into a ball in the palms of your hands, then place the "cookies" in lines on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake your bath cookies for ten minutes or until they are lightly browned. Do not overbake. Allow the bath cookies to cool completely. To use, drop two cookies into a warm bath and allow to dissolve. Yields enough for 12 baths.

But sometimes we don't have any toys and my circus clown is showing her true colors! I've discovered these hand games to play when we have no toys...

Dance the Hand Jive

Take a trip back in time with this dance craze from the 1950s, made popular again in the late 1970s by the hit movie Grease. Kids love to learn it.

Here's how it goes:

1) Pat your thighs twice.

2) Clap twice.

3) Wave your hands, one over the other, in front of your chest. Then do it with the other hand on top.

4) Bump your fists twice, one on top of the other. Then do it with the other fist on top.

5) Point your right thumb over your right shoulder twice, then your left thumb over your left shoulder twice.

Play the song below and put it all together to the beat! Pat-pat-clap-clap-hand-hand-bump-bump-thumb-thumb!

Steeple People

This classic hand game for young children is easy to play and has a fun rhyme to say. Here's a refresher course if it's been a while.

Fold your hands together with fingers interlaced downward and hidden between your hands:

"Here is the church."

Raise your index fingers and point them together toward the sky:

"Here is the steeple."

Open your thumbs:

"Open the doors."

Keep your fingers interlocked and turn over your hands so your fingers are facing up. Wriggle them as you say:

"And see all the people!"

Frizz Control Hair Gel


Mix 1/3 pure aloe vera gel to 2/3 distilled, warm water. Pour into a spray bottle and mist hair. Scrunch hair, or sculpt curls with your fingers and let air-dry. Bye-bye frizz.
